Step by step
- Go to copilot.microsoft.com or install the Microsoft Copilot app. You can already ask questions without an account.
- Click Sign in to save your chats, have longer conversations and create images.
- Have Outlook, Hotmail, Xbox or Windows? Sign in with that Microsoft account. You can also use a Google or Apple account.
- No account yet? Choose Create account, enter your email address (or create a new Outlook address) and choose a password.
- Confirm with the code in your inbox and enter your country and date of birth.
- Done: type your question in the box.
🔒 Privacy tips
- Go to your profile → Privacy and switch off ‘Model training on text’ and ‘on voice’ if you don't want your chats used for training.
- Use Copilot for work? Use your work account: it falls under your employer's rules.
- Turn on two-step verification at account.microsoft.com.
- Never share passwords, ID numbers, medical or bank details.
💶 Free or paid?
Free: Microsoft Copilot is free, with limits. Paid: Copilot is included in Microsoft 365 Personal, Family and Premium (with Word, Excel, Outlook and OneDrive storage); Premium gives the most AI usage. There is often a free trial month. Check pricing on microsoft.com.
